DFT14 - Day 9 and 10 - Acadia National Park
I'm typing on my phone, so we will se how well this works out.
As I mentioned in the last post we changed up our days in Acadia, so we would hopefully have a nice day while we were there. When we got to Acadia on Thursday, it was really cold and gloomy. We tried to do as much as possible with crappy weather but it was hard. When we would drive up mountains, it would get really foggy and you couldn't see much. Plus it started raining again. After dinner it had cleared up enough for us to drive the park loop and take some decent pics.
Yesterday we started the day with a ranger lead boat cruise to Bakers Island. It is an island off the coast of Maine that has a lighthouse on it. While on the cruise we were able to see three bald eagles. I was a little disappointed we didn't see any seals. But the boat cruise was nice! After the cruise we went back up into the park to hike. We hiked all around Jordan Pond and up to the North and South Bubbles. In total it was about 4.5 miles. We accidentally took the wrong trail up to the South Bubble, which ended up being fine but it was .4 miles of straight up rock climbing. According to my fitbit I went up over 70 flights of stairs yesterday. Which was mostly due to climbing rocks. After the hike we had a snack at Jordon Pond Lakehouse. It is the only restaurant in the park and has been open for over 100 years. And are famous for there popovers and tea on the lawn. We were able to sit in the lawn. I had blueberry tea and popovers. Daniel had blueberry soda and a popover sundae. We finished the night by watching the sunset from the top of Cadallic Mountain. After the sunset we wet into town to have our final lobster meal while in Maine. I tried another lobster roll because I don't want to have to work for my food. Daniel decided to eat a whole lobster, since we were in Maine. It was highly entertaining.

Not quite there the first day in Acadia...I blame in on the weather.
Pretty sure this day made up for it...
