DFT 24 - Day 4

On Monday we woke up in Santa Rosa, NM. We intended to cook breakfast at camp but it wasn’t shaded and already pretty warm.

So we went to a coffee place called Mr. B’s. After breakfast we drove up to Pecos NHP. It was a really nice NPS site. We got to go down in a Kiva. Learned more about the Pueblo Revolt. And the park ranger was from Chattanooga! Also Charlotte walked about a 1.25 miles on her own.

When we left we dropped down South back to Route 66 because we were looking for the “Musical Highway” which is a stretch of road that if you hit the rumble strips while driving 45mph it will play America the Beautiful.  Well unfortunately it’s not there any longer. And our drive south was honestly pointless.  We were also excited to see Route 66 through New Mexico but it hasn’t been as well kept and nostalgic as Route 66 in Texas.

We finally made it to Missy and Roy’s about 6:30 pm. We went into Farmington for dinner at Three Rivers’s Brewery.  And C was very tired and basically tried to climb my head while eating dinner. On the way home I realized she had again knocked my earring out of my ear and I lost it 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I had the best French dip sandwich I’ve ever had!

Oh for anyone wondering - I have now been to 46 states. I will add Arizona in the next few days. And get to 47. I only need Michigan, Idaho, and Hawaii. EG has been to 26 and will add two more on this trip. C has been to 11 and will add three more before we get home. Daniel apparently only needs to go to Hawaii in order to have gone to all 50 states.  And I think that would be a good thing to do for our 15th anniversary 😉
