DFT19 - Niagara Falls

Day Number 2 consisted of the Dudley Family visiting Niagara Falls.  We had heard that the Cave of the Winds tickets booked up fast and to get there early.  Well even with the alarm going off at 6am, we didn’t make it to Niagara until almost lunchtime.
So here is my honest opinion of Niagara Falls….It’s okay.   I think its def. something to see, if you have never seen it.  But I don’t know if I would ever come back.

We bought the Discovery Pass which basically gets you into all of the attractions.  We only ended up doing the Maid of the Mist – boat ride and the Cave of the Winds.  We could have go to the IMAX movie – no way EG was sitting through that, the Discovery Center – really still not sure what it is, and the Aquarium – which we probably should have done but we were so tired after the other two we decided to head on out.

It cost $10 to park there, so there was no leaving and coming back.  They light up the falls every night, but I’m not sure where you would go to see the lights because there isn’t really a good view point of the whole falls unless you go to Canada.  And they have a fireworks show at 10pm every night.  We decided to skip it since we thought EG would probably be asleep by then (HA, jokes on us she was still awake and I could hear the fireworks going off at our campsite).

The two attractions we did were both pretty cool.  But fair warning you get pretty wet with both.  As you can tell from pics the only way to wear my poncho with her on my back was to stretch the neck out.  It worked but I was not able to put the hood up.  So I got pretty soaked both places.

It was crazy packed – TONS of People there! I’m sure it is busy any day during the summer, but I don’t suggest going on a Saturday.  And even though we had the discovery pass, we still had to wait in line to get the tickets to certain attractions – what’s the point of the pass then???

After Niagara we went into Buffalo for dinner.  Funny little story about that – When we were in Philly in 2014 we walked for blocks and blocks to get to a cookie store that wasn’t open when we got there.  It was my fault I didn’t check the hours, but I have never lived it down.  Well tonight Daniel wanted to eat Wings since we were in “Buffalo”.  He found a five star restaurant that was suppose to have the best wings ever!  We parked the car and started the quarter mile walk to get there.  When Google told us that we had arrived we weren’t anywhere near a restaurant, we were standing in front of a Knight of Columbus building. Apparently the restaurant was inside the building, we weren’t so sure and ended up turning around and walking back to a restaurant that was right beside where we parked the car.  It was called Jay’s Artisan Pizza.  We ate a Honey Jalapeno Pizza that was great and found a locally made ice cream shop called Condrell’s for dessert (could be why EG refused to sleep tonight).

All and All it was a decent day…we didn’t hate Niagara Falls just don’t know if I’ll make a trip back.

OH I’m going to start a new segment to this blog called ICE Cream Count – this will consist of how many times we have had ice cream on this trip – Currently up to 3 times.  Once in Cuyhoga, Once a Niagara,  and Once in Buffalo.  Wonder what kind of Ice Cream we can find tomorrow?

P.S. I’m also really happy that this campground is observing quite hours….can you feel the sarcasm in my typing?
