DFT21 - Days 15 and 16

Image
Day 15 was spent in a cold Milwaukee...I'm pretty sure that it didn't get above 62 that day.  We started the morning by walking down to the Historic Third Ward district of the city.  We found a coffee shop called Collectivo.  The Cinnamon Roll was an A+.  The icing and softness ratio was fantastic!!! We walked around the Public Market - eventually on our second time through we bought cupcakes and cookies. Went in a few shops down in the area. And walked to the Lighthouse on Lake Michigan.  We spent part of the afternoon walking around the Pabst's area of Milwaukee, but apparently nothing is open on Wednesday.  We made it a point to stop by the Bronze Fonz.  And went to the Cheesehead Factory.  Daniel really wanted to buy EG a Green Bay Packers Cheesehead, but she didn't want it.  Instead she wanted the $7 Cheese Fling AKA Foam Frisbee.                               ...

DFT21 - Days 13 and 14

When we woke up on Tuesday morning it was raining and kinda cold outside.  We were traveling from Fargo to Minneapolis.  We found a road that would take us about 30 mins longer but would keep us from traveling on the interstate and decided to take it.  It ended up being a fun drive.  We found a cool town along the way called Perham, MN.  I'm not sure what's there but the downtown area was super cute.  And they had the second largest quilt store in MN.  We of course purchased some fabric ;) When we stopped for gas we found some interesting road trip snacks Dunk a Roos and Krispy Kreme Smartpop Popcorn.  We stopped at another quilt shop in a town called Randall. The Quilt Shop itself was cute but the fabric wasn't really that great.  Out last stop was in St. Cloud, MN for lunch.   We finally made it to our hotel in Minneapolis and were excited to find out that it connected via SkyWalk to Target Field.  We were going to the game Tuesda...

DFT21- Days 11 and 12

Day 11 of our trip landed on the 4th of July, and we are finally leaving South Dakota after begin here for what feels like forever ;) We were in South Dakota for 8 days which is a long time for a DFT.  Most of the time we see what we need to and move on pretty quick.  But it was nice to not have to pack up camp so often.   We decided to drive up through Deadwood and Spearfish on our way to Medora.  On our way out of Custer we stopped at a Coffee Shop that Daniel has been dying to stop at for four days.  They had a cinnamon roll for him and Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts for EG.  He gives it a B.  Deadwood was an interesting town considering it is known for being the place where Wild Bill was shot.  They apparently have a Shoot Out on the street several times a day but of course not on Sundays and not on the 4th of July. The visitors center was doing a #WildBillMe Scavenger Hunt Selfie Contest.  Every time you saw something with Wild Bill on it you ...

DFT21 - Days 9 and 10

This trip is a lot different then most DFT's.  First we stayed in the same place for several days and Second we built in a flex day.  That flex day gave us the freedom to move things around a bit when we needed too.  After eight years of doing this and now 3 trips with EG I have found we try to cram too much into each day and never get everything done that we want to do.  The first thing that we changed up was our trip to Minuteman Missile Visitors Center.  We were suppose to stop on our way through South Dakota but weren't going to make it in time.  So we decided to add that to our Badlands Day.  Then we were suppose to stay in the KOA four 4 nights, go to the Lodge for 2, and then back to the KOA for 2 more nights.  But we weren't enjoying our stay at the KOA.  We decided to cancel the second stay because there were tons of National Forest camping surrounding us and we were pretty confident we would be able to get a site (not going to lie, ...

DFT21 Days 7 and 8

We are currently in Custer State Park.  We arrived Wednesday for our stay at the State Game Lodge.  The lodge itself is historic and use to be used at the Summer White House for Coolidge and Eisenhower.  But specifically for Coolidge.  We have a cute room in one of the lodge wings that have been added on.  Our room faces the parking lot and as we left for Breakfast yesterday we saw a BUFFALO just hanging out in the parking lot!                                                                                   On Wednesday we started at the visitor's center which is really nice...so nice the Custer State Park Video is narrated by Kevin Costner.  But it is very interactive and has lots of things to look at.  Then we drove up to Sylvan Lake....
