DFT16 - Sequoia
Top Ten Reasons that Sequoia National Park was amazing....
10. Great Vistas of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range - I feel as if this speaks for itself, but I will provide a picture for you to understand :)
9. Nice Scenic Campground - The campground was huge...over 100 spots in the campground. The spots were kinda close together, but it was nice and quite and people observed quite hours. In addition there was a huge waterfall running through the campground. When we pulled up to our spot I told Daniel that it looked like prime bear territory.
8. Shuttle to transport you around the park - Parks that have shuttles to drive you around are the best no matter what! It is so nice to be able to park you car and catch a shuttle everywhere you need to go. But we did drive our car through Tunnel Log
7.Tons of Hiking Options - We started on the Congress trail and transferred over to the Trail of the Sequoias which was a nice rolling hike through the forest and meadows until eventually we got on the Sugar Pine trail that took us over to Moro Rock. We could have hiked all day and all around the entire park if we had the time.
6. BBQ - Somewhere I read that on Saturday Nights you can buy all you can eat BBQ tickets to the Wolverton BBQ and it just so happened that we were going to be there on Saturday night. It was $25 a person, but totally worth it. They had Pulled Pork, Roasted Chicken, Ribs, Brats, Cornbread, Salad, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Watermelon, Pound Cake with Berries, and Pecan Pie.
5. Lots of Wildlife - We saw three bears while we were in the park...remember how I said our campsite looked like prime Bear Territory, well on Sunday morning while we were packing up the tent, I saw one walking through the woods behind our site. We didn't get a good picture, but it was a huge, 400 pounds at least, brown bear.
4. It's not crowded - Maybe it was just the time that we were there, but it was not really crowded at all. We walked on our trail for a couple miles before ever running into anyone.
3. It's not too hot - It was a lovely 70 degrees all day long. Not to mention that you are under a canopy of 300 foot trees.
2. It smells nice and forestey - I told Daniel as soon as we drove into the park that it smelled nice and forestey...He laughed, but about half way through the day he started to agree with me. I can't describe it, but it wasn't your normal pine smell. I wish they sold a candle of the smell of the park.
and the number 1 reason that Sequoia was amazing It's like a Storybook....Seriously you know that imagine you get when you think of the forest in a storybook...well that is exactly what Sequoia look like. The trees are huge, the grass is super green, birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and butterflies are flying around. I asked Daniel several times if I was dreaming and if the place was truly real.
More Pics Later I promise...the Wifi is moving slow...Today was our last day is Yosemite...Hopefully I will be able to Blog about it tomorrow when we get to San Francisco.
