DFT16 - Redwoods

Image
On Saturday Morning we started by driving from our campsite back down to Muir Woods.  We had read that the park opened at 8 but the visitors center and gift shop didn't open until 9, so we thought we would beat the crowd.  When we firsts arrived the very first parking lot was already full, but we got in and were able to walk around without too many people.  We waited for the gift shop to open at 9 and by that time, it was a complete madhouse in there.  The lady at the checkout said it was crazy town there all the time, especially on weekends.  It was kinda insane how busy it was. From there we drove to Point Reyes National Seashore to see the Lighthouse.  It was not as far up the coast as we thought and still really considered in the San Francisco Area.  While there we were able to see the lighthouse and walk down the 300 steps to it, as well as walk back up them.  But the best part for driving to the Elephant Seal overlook.  I got to...

DFT16 - San Francisco

I officially love San Francisco! I think I might even love it more than, New York City. It is nice and cool...just light jacket weather all the time.  I don't think it ever got above 70 degrees the whole time we were there.  Which if you know me, means that I was somewhat cold, but it was nice to be in a city and not sweating.  There is a ton of stuff to do and see and we just barley scratched the surface.  I just really love San Francisco! We left Yosemite Thursday morning to drive into the city which was about 3 hours away.  Along the way we stopped to see John Muir's home site.  It was a really neat house and I have never seen a house ran by NPS that let you go into all parts of the home like it did.  It would have been nice to spend more time at the house, but at least we got to see it.  As we left we got about ten minutes down the road and realized how close we were to the Rosie The Riveter National Historic Site and decided to stop. ...

DFT16 - Yosemite

Oh Yosemite...where do I start....Let's just say that I wasn't as excited about Yosemite than I was for Sequoia.  I told Daniel I was only in this trip for the Big Trees ;) However, Yosemite is supposedly the best National Park of all time...so why not check it out and see if its all that its cracked up to be.  I'm not going to lie when I tell you that Yosemite and I didn't get off the best start, but by the end it wasn't all that terrible. We arrived on Sunday afternoon...it was finally 3:30ish when we made it in to the park and we went immediately to our campground.  At first the campground itself wasn't too terrible, but it was on the far west side of the park and at least a 45 minute drive into the valley.  We couldn't make reservations for Yosemite until March and when I was trying to make the reservations this was the only campground that would pop up, so I took what I could get.  After we got our camp set up we started driving around.  We didn...
