DFT 14 - Day 14 & 15 - Philly

Image
On Tuesday we spent most of the day driving from Boston to Philly.  It was about a five hour drive to get there.  Oh and I have yet to mention on this trip how much I LOVE TOLL ROADS!  They are my fav...not! Once we got there we walked up to Independence Mall.  For dinner we had an authentic Philly Cheese-stake....It was AMAZING! And we checked out the Wanamaker Organ inside Macy's before heading back to the hotel. Wednesday we found this bus called "Phlash".  You could buy a pass for $5 and ride all day, and it just made a giant loop around Philly all day long.  We started the morning at Independence Mall, and we were able to tour Independence Hall and see the Liberty Bell.  We walked to the Old Post Office and watched the Park Rangers use the printing press like Benjamin Franklin used when he lived in Philly.  We also sent post cards from the Old Post Office, because the stamp has Benjamin Franklin's signature on it.  Plus its the old...

Day 13 - Sam Adams and Fenway

Image
Yesterday we were super lazy....we didn't leave the hotel until about lunchtime.  We didn't have huge plans for day, so we just decided to take our time.  We ended up going over to take tour of the Sam Adams brewery.  It was pretty neat.   They let you taste barley and actually examine hops.  After the tour we headed toward Fenway Park.  The plan was to have a big lunch, that way we wouldn't have to eat a lot at the game.  I had read really good things about Boston Beerworks.  And I was pretty disappointed.  I knew it was going to be bar food, but it was very mediocre bar food.  I wouldn't recommend it and I def. wouldn't go back.  The gates opened to the game at 5:40, so we went in as soon as the gates opened.  Since we got in early we were able to watch the Cubs take batting practice.  We had a hard time finding tickets and just bought the cheapest and basically only thing we could find, which were in the bleac...

Day 11&12 - Boston

Image
On Saturday we drove from Acadia to Boston.  We made it into Boston right around 3pm.  Right after we got here, we decided to hop on the subway and go up to Cambridge.  Washington's Headquarters is up there and we were trying to get to it before it closed.  Unfortunately we got up there are 15 mins after they had closed.  So we just spent some time walking around Cambridge.  We saw Harvard Yard and read all about the statue of John Harvard.  Don't ever touch the statue if you see it! We had dinner at Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage...as seen as Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.  They are famous for their burgers named after celebrities.  I had the Tom Brady, which was cheddar cheese, guacamole, onion, tomato, and lettuce.  Daniel had the Big Pappi, which was a double cheese burger with bacon and bbq sauce.   We came back to the hotel to call it an early night, because we are starting to wear down.  Plus I needed to do laundry and Dani...

DFT14 - Day 9 and 10 - Acadia National Park

Image
I'm typing on my phone, so we will se how well this works out. As I mentioned in the last post we changed up our days in Acadia, so we would hopefully have a nice day while we were there. When we got to Acadia on Thursday, it was really cold and gloomy. We tried to do as much as possible with crappy weather but it was hard. When we would drive up mountains, it would get really foggy and you couldn't see much. Plus it started raining again. After dinner it had cleared up enough for us to drive the park loop and take some decent pics. Yesterday we started the day with a ranger lead boat cruise to Bakers Island. It is an island off the coast of Maine that has a lighthouse on it. While on the cruise we were able to see three bald eagles. I was a little disappointed we didn't see any seals. But the boat cruise was nice! After the cruise we went back up into the park to hike. We hiked all around Jordan Pond and up to the North and South Bubbles. In total it...
