DFT 14 - Day 14 & 15 - Philly

On Tuesday we spent most of the day driving from Boston to Philly.  It was about a five hour drive to get there.  Oh and I have yet to mention on this trip how much I LOVE TOLL ROADS!  They are my fav...not! Once we got there we walked up to Independence Mall.  For dinner we had an authentic Philly Cheese-stake....It was AMAZING! And we checked out the Wanamaker Organ inside Macy's before heading back to the hotel.

Wednesday we found this bus called "Phlash".  You could buy a pass for $5 and ride all day, and it just made a giant loop around Philly all day long.  We started the morning at Independence Mall, and we were able to tour Independence Hall and see the Liberty Bell.  We walked to the Old Post Office and watched the Park Rangers use the printing press like Benjamin Franklin used when he lived in Philly.  We also sent post cards from the Old Post Office, because the stamp has Benjamin Franklin's signature on it.  Plus its the oldest working post office in the US.  Afterwards, we walked over to the United States Mint.  We had to channel our inner Alvin, and check out the coins.  It was really neat to read the history of coins and see how they are made.  Daniel has decided he wants to collect coins.  So while we were there we bought the set with the Great Smoky Mountain quarters.  We rode the bus over to the Museum of Art, just to see the Rocky Statute. Just a note unless something is going on Philly while you are there, there will be absolutely nothing at Penn's Landing.  We thought it would be similar to Navy Pier with stuff going on all the time...but no.  And lastly we went to Love Park.  IT was approximately 98 degrees in Philly that day, so we did as much as we could and then we went back to the hotel.  We ate dinner at Percy Street BBQ, which was also fantastic.  For BBQ above the mason dixon line I give it two thumbs up.

So that was pretty much the end of Dudley Field Trip 2014.  We were suppose to continue to the outer banks, but Hurricane Arthur but a damper on things.   I am not happy that it was a Hurricane, but I am happy that the county issued an evacuation order, because if the hadn't we would not have been able to get our deposit back.  They asked if we would like to come today.  But all the parks are closed, and you can't get into the ocean because of the rip currents.

Now we are home and ready to commence the home buying process.  Hopefully we can find something that we like!
