Meet the Blogger

My name is Ashley and I was born in raised in Newport, Tennessee.  I swore my whole life that I would leave this town and never move back.  In 2004 I moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee.  It was my first choice school and I have never once regretted my decision.

I started out at UT not knowing what I wanted to major in, but before my freshman year was over I had settled on Retail and Consumer Science.  I won't say that was the best decision I had ever made, but it certainly wasn't the worst.  I graduated from UT in May 2008 with a job at Macy's in Green Hills Mall as a Management Trainee.  Now that might possibly be the worst decision I ever made.  I quickly realized that working in a Retail store was not what I wanted out of life.

Therefore at the end of 2009 I moved back to Newport (never say never), to live with my mom, and to go to graduated school at the Carson Newman College.  I graduated from CN with my Master's in Education and became a Family and Consumer Science Teacher (or for those of you that don't know what FACS is, Home Ec).

I got my first teaching job at Cherokee High School.  It is not ideal because the school is an hour away from home.  However, I really do love my job and I have amazing students.

Daniel and I just got married this past summer.  I met him through my cousins because he had been one of their high school football coaches.  We started dating and the rest is history....I still can't believe I met a decent guy in Newport (but he isn't from here, so that explains part of it).

Even though I really don't care for living in Newport, I do enjoy being close to my family.  Family is very important to me and a large part of why I knew working for Macy's was not going to work out.  This is a picture of my entire family at the beach together.

Daniel and I have one dog, a basset hound, named Bear.  I had a dog named Tucker, but when I moved back in with mom, he decided he loved her more than me.  So that is where he lives now.

And just some random info....I love the snow, but hate cold weather.  I am rather irritated that I am currently on spring break and it is suppose to snow tomorrow.  I love the beach and would move close to it in a heart beat.  I think a part of my heart is lost somewhere in the Low Country of South Carolina.  I love to cook and I love to craft....maybe that's why I enjoy being a FACS teacher so much!
