Slow Cooker Ham

Image
For Thanksgiving I volunteered to make the ham for our family dinner, mostly because I had found a recipe on Pinterest that I wanted to try.   It was quite possibly the best ham that I have ever had.  My family loved it so much there there was absolutely NONE left. While in Charleston, Anne was trying to decide what to make for Easter and I told her about this recipe.  I promised I would post it, so that she could try it out.  So here it is.... Ingredients 1 Ham, pre-cooked, bone-in, spiral cut 3 Cups of brown sugar 1 Can of pineapple tidbits, undrained Directions Cover the bottom of the crock pot with brown sugar Place the ham on top of the brown sugar and add the pineapple tidbits with the juice.  Sprinkle hame with more brown sugar. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours (I cooked overnight). This recipe is courtesy of Crockingirls.com and can be found here.... http://crockingirls.com/recipes/crockin-ham-sweet-potato-casserol...

Charleston

Daniel and I have different spring breaks this year.  And for his spring break he gets to go to NYC with the Beta Club.  So I thought it was only fair that I went somewhere too.  I had never been to Charleston, even though my family vacations close to there every year, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to visit my friend Anne and her husband David.   This was Emily and I with Anne at her wedding last year.  Anne, Emily, and I all had the same major at UT.     Anne and David were wonderful hosts (oh and I can't forget my new best friend Bruce)! The best part of the whole trip was all the wonderful food we ate! If you are ever in Charleston, I highly recommend Hominy Grill and Sugar Bake Shop.  Also Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island has amazing burgers. Daniel bought me I fancy new camera before I left, so all the picture were just me trying to learn how to use it. I wish it had been just a tad n...

Meet the Blogger

My name is Ashley and I was born in raised in Newport, Tennessee.  I swore my whole life that I would leave this town and never move back.  In 2004 I moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee.  It was my first choice school and I have never once regretted my decision. I started out at UT not knowing what I wanted to major in, but before my freshman year was over I had settled on Retail and Consumer Science.  I won't say that was the best decision I had ever made, but it certainly wasn't the worst.  I graduated from UT in May 2008 with a job at Macy's in Green Hills Mall as a Management Trainee.  Now that might possibly be the worst decision I ever made.  I quickly realized that working in a Retail store was not what I wanted out of life. Therefore at the end of 2009 I moved back to Newport (never say never), to live with my mom, and to go to graduated school at the Carson Newman College.  I graduated from CN with m...

Why I Love Not Camping...

Image
The biggest fight my husband and I have ever had was over our honeymoon.  He thought that it would be a fabulous idea to drive out west and camp in some of the National Parks.  I on the other hand thought that it would be fabulous to lay on a beach somewhere.  Preferably somewhere in the tropics, with someone bringing me as many fruity drinks as I wanted.  In the end we ended up going to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg, or what we like to refer to as The Field Trip.   We ended up on the field trip because his aunts gave us the hotel room as our wedding gift.  Oh and did I mentioned I married a History teacher. And all in all ended up having a really good time.  Yes it was not my ideal honeymoon, but really just us being together was the most fun.   So even though we didn't spend our honeymoon camping in National Parks, I didn't get off the hook that easy.  As of the last day of school we are leaving for Denver, Yellowstone, and the ...
