Day 19 and 20 - Chicago and HOME SWEET HOME
Daniel has always wanted to see a game at Wrigley Field and since the traditional first anniversary gift is paper....I decided to buy him tickets to a game. We had amazing seats to watch the Cubs take on the Pirates. I was pretty impressed with our seats considering we had no idea what was considered good when buying them. The were directly behind home plate and in the shade. I really like the scoreboard at Wrigley because there are people actually inside changing the score. After singing take me out to the ball game in the 7th inning, we left. We wanted to avoid some of the traffic and still have time to see some of Chicago. I spent a considerable amount of time on the drive to Chicago researching pizza places. Apparently there are two big time pizza joints in Chicago Lou Malnati's and Giordano's. everything a read said the Lou Malnati's was the best. So we went....okay....nothing special....next time I will try the other place. After pizza we walked down Michigan Avenue and saw Cloud Gate...aka the bean. We did see Navy Pier from a distance but didn't get to go. I feel like we just barley scraped the surface of things to see/do in Chicago. Hopefully m FCCLA girls will make it to Nationals next year, so I can go back!
Today we drove home. Boy I have never been so happen to see Newport. Thanks to my wonderfully mom for cleaning our house yesterday. After having who knows how many 20-something year old boys stay here for three weeks...there is no telling what it looked like. The washer and dryer are running, the dishwasher is humming. Almost everything is put away and the souvenirs are spread across the kitchen table. Thanks to Claire for the apples and bischoff spread, or I probably wouldn't have had anything to eat tonight.
I hope everyone has enjoyed reading about our trip. I will continue to post random things here and there. And I will def post once we get the good pics upload to the computer. All the other pics have been from our phones.
