DFT25 - Glacier part 2

Saturday was reserved for spending time in the St. Mary and Many Glacier area of the park. We started the day driving across the Going to the Sun road. Stopped at the visitors center in St. Mary and watched the video on the park. Then we had lunch at Johnsons. It was part of the main reason I wanted to go to that side of the park. When Daniel and I were there in 2016 we had their famous Huckleberry Ice Cream pie and were so excited for the girls to have it. Unfortunately they weren’t serving dessert at lunch ☹️. But we did have a huckleberry cream fizz and huckleberry lemonade to drink 🤷🏻‍♀️ Then we drove on up to Many Glacier. Several of the trails are closed due to snow and bear activity. We walked as far around the lake as we could go before we had to turn around. We did finally have our family picture made in front of the sign! Then for dinner we stopped at the Sunflower Cafe for BBQ and it was sooooo good! I’ve figured out that most of the restaurants are tied to a resort o...

Glacier now has a timed entry system. And the pass go up for sale 90 days before your trip or at 7pm the night before you want to enter. 3 months ago I was able to get a permit for all our days but not always the earliest times. So we have had to plan around what time we can get into the park.   Wednesday we didn’t have a pass until 1pm. So we started the morning on the Northwest Side at the place called Polebridge. We were able to visit the Mercantile and get a famous Huckleberry Bear Claw. The Polebridge Mercantile had been in business since….and is one of the most iconic buildings in Montana. We hiked the Covey Meadow Loop in the North Fork Area of the park. Then headed back down for our 1pm park entry to the Going to the Sun Road. We drove all the way up to Logan Pass. EG kept saying she didn’t think it was real and she was actual seeing a projection 😂. When we came back down we stopped to let the girls swim in Lake McDonald. Then we had dinner and ice cream in Apgar Village...

Since Daniel was officially named the Head Football Coach we didn’t think we had the time to drive like we normally would. So we FLEW! And instead of camping we are staying in AirBNBs.   This is how you know I don’t fly often. It had been a few weeks since I had looked at our flight. Daniel had asked me the weekend before if I thought we should drive to Nashville and grab a cheap hotel room on Friday evening and I said No I didn’t want to do that. But on Friday I had myself convinced that our flight was at 11:50am and that we would be late to the airport. So I decided we did indeed need to go Friday night. I hurried and finished packing and we got on the road to Nashville. At the 407 exit I decided to check my email again. Apparently our flight was at 1:50. I had 11:50 in my mind because that’s what time we needed to be at the airport. I also decided to start the check in process in ...
